The Pregame Warm-Up Podcast: Legends & Leaders, Coaching Carousel part 2 and Bowls.

This week we poke fun at the Big Ten’s division names and new logo, trying to figure out why they did it.  We discuss more changes in the coaching ranks and  talk about a few of the upcoming bowl games, including the Letdown Bowl, which features Boise State and Utah.  I’m joined this week, as always, by Michael Felder from InTheBleachers.net and Jon Dove from NFLMocks.com.

Here is the Will Muschamp press conference:

The Pregame Warm-Up AA Team

I have watched as many college football games over the past 4 months as physically possible, taking notes and rewatching games along the way.  After all the games have been watched, here is my attempt at an All-American Team for The Pregame Warm-Up.  The PGWU team features the most players from the Nebraska Cornhuskers with 4.  Auburn, Oregon and Florida each had 2.

PGWU Podcast: Coaching Carousel, Awards and Bowls.

This week we discuss the ever changing coaching landscape in college football, comparing the Miami(FL) and Pitt jobs and go over possible candidates for each. We recorded this on Tuesday night, so the Urban Meyer news was not yet available, but I’m in the camp that thinks Chris Peterson from Boise St would be the best possible candidate. The College football awards show is tonight and the Heisman is Saturday, so we amke our picks for the 4 biggest awards in my opinion.  Finally we discuss which bowls we like and dislike from a matchup point of view.  As always Jon Dove from NFLMocks.com and Michael Felder join me, Jason Madson for the show.  Enjoy!

PGWU PodCast: How to fix the BCS

This podcast features Brandon Kennedy from NCAA Revolution. We discuss his idea and the KP Coalition.  Since all the bowls were released last night, I thought this would be a perfect time to post this interview.

PGWU OT: Acid Trip in a Closet!

I know this has nothing to do with football, but it is one of the funniest clips I have ever seen on YouTube.  Check back tomorrow and this weekend for a pod cast devoted to the BCS vs Playoff debate.  I will have a special guest in  for this one.  Here it is and it is definitely Not Suitable For Work!

NO WAY, NOOO WAY! What is this Gaabage!

The Pregame Warm-Up Heisman Watch: Week 13

This week we once again have Cameron Newton at the top of our list. If somebody else were to win, this is the week to put on a show and hope that Cam plays below average or loses. I really think the Oklahoma State trio will hurt one anothers chance in the Heisman race, just because of the whole splitting votes in that region thing.

In The Discussion:
Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State- He is the best WR in the country, his team is winning and has the stats to be here.

Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State- The problem with Blackmon and Weeden being here is that they might take votes away from each other. I guess that’s not really a problem for the Cowboys and their fans.

Ryan Mallett QB Arkansas- If he plays a great game against the tough LSU Defense, he should have a spot.

Top 5

ANN ARBOR, MI - NOVEMBER 20: Denard Robinson of the Michigan Wolverines dives into the enzone for a fourth quarter touchdown over Devin Smith of the Wisconsin Badgers at Michigan Stadium on November 20, 2010 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Wisconson won the game 48-28. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)

5th His team isn’t the greatest, but Denard Robinson’s stats are very comparable to Cam Newton’s this season.  He has carried the Wolverines as far as he could this season.  Just think, if the Wolverines had a defense, they could very well be in the running for the Big10.  Thanks Greg Robinson for stealing Shoelace’s Heisman.

BERKELEY, CA - NOVEMBER 20: Andrew Luck of the Stanford Cardinal celebrates after beating the California Golden Bears at California Memorial Stadium on November 20, 2010 in Berkeley, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

4th Andrew Luck has the Stanford Cardinal’s offense running smoothly right now.  He makes all the throws and is a great leader.  He may not win the Heisman, but he should win the NFL Draft jackpot in the Spring.

Nov 6, 2010; Boise, ID, USA; Boise State Broncos quarterback Kellen Moore (11) throws a pass in the first quarter against the Hawaii Rainbows at Bronco Stadium. Photo via Newscom

3rd Kellen Moore is about as good as they come.  His smooth lefty release is a thing of beauty.  I still think he gets the shaft because of the level of competition the Broncos play in the WAC.  If BSU beats Nevada they have a very good chance to play in the Nat’l Championship game.  I’m sure Moore would trade the Heisman for a BCS Championship trophy.

BERKELEY, CA - NOVEMBER 13: LaMichael James of the Oregon Ducks warms up before their game against the California Golden Bears at California Memorial Stadium on November 13, 2010 in Berkeley, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

2nd  LaMichael James is the best running back in college football, playing on the number 1 ranked Oregon Ducks.  Any other year he would probably walk away with the trophy, but the year of Cam has pushed him to 2nd.  He needs to have great games the last 2 weeks and keep his team undefeated to have a shot.

AUBURN, AL - NOVEMBER 13: Quarterback Cameron Newton of the Auburn Tigers rushes for a touchdown past Bacarri Rambo of the Georgia Bulldogs at Jordan-Hare Stadium on November 13, 2010 in Auburn, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

1st Cam Newton has to be the number one vote for every Heisman voter in the country.  He is such an incredible talent that can do everything on the field.  The only thing holding him back is off the field concerns about getting paid to play.  I hope voters don’t make a big deal out of this until there is concrete proof that shows he was paid.

Game Day Open Thread

This is your spot to talk some College Football with The Pregame Warm-Up crew.  I’m going out this morning to get a new set of tires on the Jeep and play some pick up football in honor of the #wrigleypickuprules on Twitter.  I’ll be back around 2PM to comment on what I’ve seen so far.  Here are a few things to watch for and some predictions to chew on.

The Big 10 kicks us off this week with my upset pick of the week.  Wisconsin @ Michigan is going to be a very high scoring game, one which I think Denard Robinson has a special day.  I like the Wolverines 48-44.

Pitt is @ South Florida this week, a game that they need to win to keep their BCS hopes alive, HAHAHAHAHA.  It really is a joke that this conference will get a guaranteed spot in a BCS game.  I like Pitt to win big today, 31-17.

Stanford @ Cal has the potential to be avery good game, if the Bears defense can play like they did against Oregon.  We discussed this matchup in the PGWU podcast and came to the conclusion that Stanford is a different style that will cause more trouble for Cal.  Stanford wins, 38-10.

Army vs  Notre Dame @ Yankee Stadium.  It’s a big game because after the season that the Irish have suffered through, a win gets them to bowl eligible.  I’ll take the Irish 24-19.

Nebraska @ Texas A&M I think theses teams are headed in different directions.  Nebraska has struggled the past two weeks, playing below average competition, while the Aggies have installed Tannehill at QB and taken off.  Look for the balance of run and pass from TAMU to put the huskers away in a close game.  I like TAMU, 24-20.

Utah @ SDSU is going to be a fun game.  I really like everything the Aztecs are doing right now and they could jump on a deflated Utes team.  I’ll go with the “upset” here and take SDSU 35-34.

The Pregame Warm-Up Podcast: Week 12

This week Jon Dove from NFLMocks.com and Michael Felder from InTheBleachers.net join me, Jason Madson, for the week 12 PGWU Podcast.  We argue both sides of the BCS vs Playoff debate, get into some Conference talk.  We talk about Nebraska @ Texas A&M, Who will represent the Big 10 in the BCS and does LSU have a chance at the BCS Title game?  We talk Notre Dame bowl game possibilities, discussing the sub-.500 bowl waiver.  We end the show picking the biggest games of the week.  Enjoy!
